(Pittsburgh) -- The Friends of Flight 93 volunteer group has selected its first executive director.

The National Park Service says Norwood R. ``Rob'' Dennis will be responsible for day-to-day management and fund raising. Dennis was formerly the CEO of the National Science Center in Washington, D.C.

The Friends of Flight 93 group works with the National Park Service to honor the 33 passengers and seven crew members killed when the plane crashed into a field on Sept. 11, 2001, after passengers fought back against hijackers.

The Flight 93 National Memorial is located in Shanksville, Somerset County.

Dennis is a graduate of Augusta College in Augusta, Georgia. He has relocated to Pennsylvania and will begin the new position immediately.
