(Manheim) -- Authorities say a suicidal man has been hospitalized after police in Lancaster County shot him after he refused to drop his gun.

Manheim Borough police and state troopers investigating last night's shooting did not immediately identify the man who was wounded and taken to a Lancaster County hospital.

There was no immediate word on the man's condition.

Manheim police Chief Joseph Stauffer says the man "was threatening that he would not go alive," and when he refused to drop his gun, two officers fired at about 9 p.m.

Both officers are on administrative leave, which is standard for officers involved in shootings.

They'll remain on leave while internal and state police investigations into the shooting continue.

It wasn't clear how many times the man was shot. No officers were injured.
