(Columbia) -- Police are still trying to find a 7-month-old boy after spending hours searching a wooded area along the Susquehanna River.

Columbia Police Officer Troy Engle said late Wednesday afternoon that nothing was found and investigators looking for Hamza Ali were pursuing other leads.

The search followed the arrest of Ummad Rushdi, the boyfriend of the child's mother, at their home in the York suburbs on charges that include kidnapping.

Police in Upper Darby say the boy's mother said Rushdi took him early Sunday morning.

They believe the child may have been killed and buried in the York area.

The newspaper also reports that charges of resisting arrest and other counts against Rushdi were dropped in a 2008 case after his lawyers said he showed signs of mental illness.
