(Ardmore) -- The best golfers in the world are in the commonwealth this weekend.

The US Open is being held at Merion Golf Club in Delaware County.

Former World Number One and two-time major winner Rory McIlroy says the recent severe weather could be a factor on the course.

"It's a pity that it has rained so much in the past few days, and it might not play as tough as it usually does," McIlroy says. "It's still going to be a good test out there, and you're still going to have to play some good golf."

The last time the US Open came to Merion was 1981.

Play wraps up Sunday with the winner taking home more than $1.4 million.
