(New Bloomfield) -- A Perry County-based military school is getting a new leader.

Carson Long Military Academy in New Bloomfield is welcoming David Pearson as its president and CEO.

The school's sixth president will take office Monday.

Pearson comes to Carson Long from Kents Hill School in Maine, where he served as the assistant headmaster, dean of academics and chair of the history department.

He also spent 12 years as an infantry officer in the British Army.
Carson Long is the nation’s oldest boarding school to provide military training.

It was first established as "Bloomfield Academy" in 1836.
