(State College) -- Penn State's Board of Trustees could welcome new members and vote on new rules when the school officials convene this week for meetings.

Trustees will gather in committees starting Thursday before assembling as a full board Friday.

They're likely to discuss proposed revisions to university governance rules, including making the state's governor and the university president non-voting members.

Voting also closes Thursday in the election for three board seats held by alumni.

That election has received scrutiny from factions of vocal alumni and former football players unhappy with how trustees handled the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky scandal, including the firing of the late coach Joe Paterno and the NCAA sanctions.

Alumni election voting results are scheduled to be announced Friday.

As a note of disclosure: WITF President and CEO Kathleen Pavelko is a candidate for the board.
