(Lancaster) -- The Lancaster County coroner has ruled that a Franklin & Marshall College student who collapsed in his dorm in February died of an irregular heartbeat.

Coroner Stephen Diamantoni determined 20-year-old Eric Phillips had a pre-existing heart condition called cardiomyopathy.

The Oakland, Calif., native, who weighed about 300 pounds, collapsed early on Feb. 10 while he was hanging out with friends in a common room.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Franklin & Marshall is a small liberal arts college serving about 2,300 students in Lancaster.
