(Lancaster) -- A coroner has released the name of an inmate in central Pennsylvania who committed suicide in his cell.

Lancaster County Coroner Stephen Diamantoni says the inmate found dead Saturday was 28-year-old Matthew Wisniewski of Ephrata.

Investigators said he used a bed sheet to hang himself from an upper part of a bunk in his Lancaster County Prison cell. He was taken to a hospital and put on life support for a time before being declared brain dead.

Diamantoni says an autopsy was completed Monday and the death had been ruled a suicide.

Prison officials didn't immediately comment on the death.
