(Harrisburg) -- People who helped contribute $460,000 to Joe Sestak in the first three months of this year say they gave even though the former congressman hasn't settled on which office he's running for.
Sestak said Tuesday the response from his supporters has been "wonderful,'' but declined to discuss his plans. The Democrat has not ruled out potential bids for governor next year, or a rematch with Republican U.S. Senator Pat Toomey in 2016.
The recent surge in contributions to the Friends of Joe Sestak committee is a signal that he's serious about running for public office again. In interviews, several contributors said they don't care whether he runs for governor or Senate.
Sestak ousted Senator Arlen Specter in the 2010 Democratic primary and narrowly lost the general election to Toomey.
