(Carlisle) -- A colonel at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle has been charged with possession of child pornography after police say they found some 10,000 images on his computer.

Fifty-five-year-old Robert Rice of Silver Spring Township was charged yesterday.

Court papers say Rice's wife told authorities she saw child pornography on her husband's laptop.

War college spokeswoman Carol Kerr says Rice is innocent until proven guilty, and will return to his job developing war games at the college.

He is still an Army colonel, but Kerr says his security clearance has been suspended and he has no access to classified information.

Rice's number is unlisted, and it's not clear if he has an attorney.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
