(Harrisburg) --Two members of the state House are asking their colleagues to co-sponsor a resolution that could lead to impeachment proceedings against a sitting state Supreme Court justice.
Represenatives Glen Grell and John Sabatina have distributed a memo looking for support to have the House Judiciary Committee investigate the conduct of Justice Joan Orie Melvin.
Grell, a Republican from Cumberland County, and Sabatina, a Philadelphia Democrat, say it's the same process used two decades ago in the impeachment of Justice Rolf Larsen.
Melvin is awaiting sentencing May 7ty after being convicted of theft, conspiracy and misappropriation of state property.
The Republican justice also is facing misconduct charges before the Court of Judicial Discipline. She is currently suspended without pay.
