(Hummelstown) -- A man who served more than four years on a Dauphin County school board has been accused of sexually abusing a local student.
Charges have been filed against 47-year-old Rodney Nissley. He resigned from the Lower Dauphin board on Thursday.
Authorities began investigating in November after a high school student told her counselor that she had been sexually abused for years. Police say the alleged abuse didn't take place at school.
Nissley, of Hummelstown, has been charged with offenses including rape of a child and statutory sexual assault. A message left for his attorney was not immediately returned today.
A district statement says officials are saddened by the charges but will have no further comment.
Nissley had served on the board since December 2008. The district enrolls about 4,000 students.
