(Pittsburg) -- Former State Auditor General Jack Wagner says he'll enter the race to become Pittsburgh's next mayor.

KDKA-TV reports Wagner says he'll run for the Democratic primary and the Democratic nomination for mayor.

The contest became a wide-open race when incumbent Mayor Luke Ravenstahl suddenly announced last week that he won't see re-election.

Councilman Bill Peduto and Controller Michael Lamb have also announced that they're running, but several other politicians have expressed interest, too.

Wagner says he has a passion to improve the city.
