(Waymart) -- Flags have been lowered to half-staff and a public viewing is scheduled for a corrections officer fatally stabbed at a federal prison in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Authorities say Eric Williams was working in a housing unit when an inmate using a homemade weapon attacked him Tuesday night at the Canaan penitentiary in Waymart, about 20 miles northeast of Scranton.
On Wednesday, Governor Corbett ordered all Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol and at commonwealth facilities in Luzerne County to fly at half-staff in Williams' honor.
A public viewing is scheduled for Friday at Greater Nanticoke Area High School and a funeral is set for Saturday.
The FBI is continuing to investigate and charges have yet to be filed. Prison officials say staff later detained the inmate, whose name hasn't been released.
