witf can confirm Tara Mead, the hospital's director of marketing and public relations, is among those who lost their jobs.

The hospital has released the following statement on the layoffs:

"Our leadership team is continually working to improve our ability to provide the best care possible in the most efficient way we can. Our operational plans now and in the future will always support those efforts. Following a thorough evaluation and assessment of needs in the local community, we have adjusted our staffing levels to better align our resources with existing hospital activity levels. Although some full-time staff were affected, the majority of adjustments were made with contract, part-time and per diem staff.

Our goal is to offer the best patient care possible to those admitted and have the proper number of staff and services available at all times to meet the ongoing needs of our patients. Hospitals are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we pride ourselves on properly monitoring our employment and service levels to ensure the needs of our patients are met in a timely manner."
