Governor Corbett touts children's health aid, mulls future of Lottery deal

(Hershey)  -- Governor Corbett is touting his proposal to add enough money for 9,300 children to join Pennsylvania's Children's Health Insurance Program while he considers his stalled effort to hire a British firm to manage the Pennsylvania Lottery.

Corbett toured the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital earlier today. His proposal to add $8.5 million to CHIP is part of his $28.4 billion budget proposal for the fiscal year beginning July 1. Lawmakers are just beginning to consider the proposal. This year's budget allows $101 million for CHIP.

Meanwhile, Corbett says he's still deciding whether to appeal Attorney General Kathleen Kane's rejection of the lottery contract with Camelot Global Services.

Corbett says he disagrees with Kane's conclusion that elements of the contract either are not allowed by allow or contravene the state constitution.
