(York) -- Officers involved in the fatal shooting of a theft suspect outside a Kmart in central Pennsylvania have been cleared to return to duty.
Forty-year-old Todd Shultz was shot and killed Saturday night near York by police responding to a report of a man with a knife stealing jewelry. Investigators say Shultz fought with the officers and pulled a knife after police used a stun gun on him.
Two officers then opened fire, killing Shultz.
District Attorney Tom Kearney says the officers appear to have acted appropriately and have been cleared to go back on duty. He says he reviewed reports and video of the scene.
Schultz's mother, Gail Shultz, says her son was "a sweet boy'' who was not aggressive or confrontational.
