(Harrisburg) -- Pennsylvania's annual celebration of agriculture drew a record crowd this year.

The state Agriculture Department says attendants at the Pennsylvania Farm Show complex in Harrisburg parked more than 71,100 cars, up 4 percent from the previous record of 68,000 last year.

No tickets are required, and no monitors count attendance at the doors. As a result, a department spokeswoman says counting cars is the best way to measure attendance each year.

The theme for the eight-day Farm Show this year was "Made in PA.''

The show wrapped up over the weekend.

All those visitors kept vendors busy all week at the food court. For instance, the state says the Pennsylvania Co-operative Potato Growers sold more than 300,000 doughnuts, 35,000 baked potatoes and nearly 45,000 servings of French fries.
