(Harrisburg) -- The capital city's director of communications is stepping down.

Robert Philbin is set to leave his position February first after joining Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson's staff full time in June of 2011.

Philbin says he'll pursue other career options while providing pro bono services to Thompson's office.

The director of communications position was eliminated from the city budget last January.

Philbin served as a volunteer until the job was re-instated in the city budget on January first of this year.
