(Shamokin) -- An arts organization in eastern Pennsylvania says a recent gift is a Christmas miracle.

A large, historic home in Shamokin has been donated to the Northumberland County Council for the Arts and Humanities.

Council executive director Jeanne Shaffer says the acquisition of the former home of Dr. John and JoAnn Kallaway will be finalized by the end of the year.

She says it will most likely be used as a forum for art lessons and activities.

John Kallaway currently lives in a nursing home and his wife is deceased. Family members say the house is beautiful and they know it will be preserved.

The building will be known as the Kallaway Center for the Arts.
