(Carlisle) -- One student had to be admitted to a hospital following a small explosion and fire inside a science lab at a central Pennsylvania middle school.
Officials say a second student who was also been flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore was released Wednesday evening, hours after the fire at Wilson Middle School in Carlisle.
A total of seven students and one teacher needed medical attention following the fire inside an eighth grade science classroom. Carlisle School District Superintendent John Friend says a chemical mixture ignited and the teacher put the fire out with an extinguisher.
The lone hospitalized student was listed in fair condition Wednesday.
