Penn State Board of Trustees to weigh governance recommendations

(State College) -- Penn State trustees plan to weigh the recommendations of the state auditor general to change the school's governing structure in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.

State Auditor General Jack Wagner released his report yesterday. Among his recommendations was the removal of the university president as a voting trustee.

Trustees are beginning two days of regularly-scheduled meetings Thursday. James Broadhurst said leaders spoke briefly with Wagner by phone before he released his report. Trustees might also meet with Wagner in person.

Trustees chairwoman Karen Peetz said the board is awaiting similar recommendations from the faculty. They've already received recommendations from former FBI director Louis Freeh, who led the university's internal investigation into the scandal.

Peetz says they will consider all the reports as they determine how to proceed.
