(Harrisburg) — A special adviser to Pennsylvania's Department of Public Welfare secretary is suspended after police charged him in a domestic dispute that allegedly included slamming a bedroom door on a woman's arm.

State officials suspended Brandon Danz without pay Wednesday from his $101,000-a-year post.

Lower Allen Township police said the 33-year-old Danz slammed the door and held it so the woman couldn't pull her arm out. Arrest documents say the incident caused bruising on her arm.

He was charged with simple assault and harassment in connection with the Sept. 22 incident in suburban Harrisburg. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Nov. 26.

Department spokeswoman Carey Miller says the agency takes the matter seriously. Danz' lawyer Alan Goldberg declined comment through an assistant.
