Midstate women bring home medals from London Olympics

(London, UK) -- Two central Pennsylvania women have medaled at the 2012 Summer Olympics, which are currently underway in London. Twenty-eight-year-old and Cedar Crest High School graduate Jamie Beyerle Gray of Lebanon has won the gold medal for the U.S. in the women's 50-meter three-position rifle shooting competition. Her final score was 691.9 points, and her last mark of 10.8 was just 0.1 away from being perfect.

Meantime, 28-year-old Lauren Tamayo of Barto, Berks County took the silver medal as part of the U.S. women's women's cycling team. She and her two teammates came in second in the women's three-kilometer race with a time of three minutes, 19.727 seconds. The British women's team took home the gold, with a time of three-minutes, 14.051 seconds.

The Olympics began at the end of last month and will continue until August 12th.
