As I've recently shared in a previous blog post, I'm now 25 and in the prime of my life. I've reached a point where i'm just starting out and have a whole world ahead of me. These little facts make creating a bucket list so important. I consider it my to-do list for focusing my goals and accomplishing everything I've set out to. Creating a bucket list is hard. Immediately, I wanted to add for larger-than-life items that I knew I would probably never accomplish in two lifetimes. That would be counterproductive to this list. The point of any bucket list is creating a list of things you can do. The following is my bucket list for success. Take a look and find some inspiration for your own!
Learn to Love Kale
This is one of the most important things for any bucket list, as a long and healthy life will give me the time and freedom to achieve everything else. I will make it a point to try new fruits and vegetables and keep a healthy diet. After all, I won't be able to run a marathon with McDonald's fries running through my veins.
Move Away From Home
Check and check. I've added this to my list as a reminder to NEVER move home again. While I love my parents, friends and everything about my hometown, staying away is an essential element to success. Moving away from home is the perfect way to get out of your comfort zone and really experience life. The best way to truly define your identity is by doing it on your own.
Love Your Job, or Find a New One
I often consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world to have stepped out of college and into a career that I love. Having a 9-5 that you hate can make you miserable and waste your precious time and energy. That's why loving your job is such an important bucket list item.
Do Something that Scares You
As cliché as it sounds, doing something personally terrifying (as long as it's safe) can totally change your life. It's time to push my limits and getting out of my comfort zone. Opening myself up to new experiences can lead to amazing opportunities. So it's time for me to get uncomfortable. Bring on the skydiving, traveling, blind dates, karaoke and pitching a potential client!
Buy a House
The economy right now is pretty rough, as all millennials know. This makes finding a job with a good salary, paying off student loans or creating financial stability so hard. This is why saving up to buy a house is not only a huge accomplishment, but also an asset. While I may only be able to afford a fixer-upper at first, investing in my home along the way with luxury remodeling will make my house worth more, further enhancing my financial stability.
Get Into Getting Fit
Whether it's P90X, the Color Run or Crossfit, getting into exercise certainly made my bucket list. With all of the physical and mental benefits that exercise provides, making fitness part of my daily routine is a no-brainer. An added bonus of dedicating myself to an intense sweat-session is relaxing my body and mind in a therapy pool.
Find Your Niche
One of the most essential parts of every life is finding happiness, and the best way to do that is to find your niche. It's time to think about activities or hobbies that I truly enjoy doing, and make it my goal to do this as often as possible. My mini bucket list for the summer is to hike as many nearby trails in PA as possible. Obviously, that will mean stocking up on organic insect repellent and pounds of trail mix, but i'm up for the challenge.
Get a Passport
There's only so much of the world that I can see on my MacBook Pro screen. Luckily as millennials we live in the age of globalism, making international travel easier than ever. So the first step is to get a passport, pick my destination and see the world, i'll be so glad I did.
Build Your Own Empire
One of the best things you can do for your career, and personal fulfillment, is to make a name for yourself. Now more than ever there are tons of resources available to help start your own brand or create your own business. Between blog sites, etsy and social media, there are tons of ways to become published, sell products on a global marketplace or promote a business. Pinky and the Brain had big dreams of taking over the world, and I always found their zany tactics to be inspiring. Building my own empire is a must for the future.
See the Best in Every day
While it's true that not every day is going to be good, having a positive outlook will make my life that much better. By making one of my life's goals to choose to see the good, my days will be much happier and more fulfilled.
As a twenty-something, my life is full of potential. As time is the most copious resource right now, it's important to spend time doing things I love and making the most of it. I'm hoping this bucket list will not only give my life focus and direction, but make everyday happier, healthier and full of possibility.
