Teerah Goodrum was born and raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She attended Central Dauphin School District and graduated from Central Dauphin East Sr. High School in 2006. Upon graduation, Teerah matriculated to her beloved Howard University in Washington, DC. It is at Howard that she was introduced to Political Science and became enamored with the subject. The civic understanding of the legislative process and its influence on the lives of Americans is what intrigued her most. While finishing her Undergraduate studies, Teerah was awarded a Congressional internship in 2009. This experience only made her more interested in Political Science, specifically Public Policy. After Teerah graduated from Howard University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, she worked on Capitol Hill for Congressman Tim Holden of the 17th District of Pennsylvania. As a Congressional staffer she served as Staff Assistant, Legislative Correspondent and a Legislative Assistant. Her experiences on Capitol Hill allowed her to notice the lack of understanding and resources available to everyday people interested in how laws affected their lives. She was concerned that most people would never understand the true nature of policy or receive the legislative information necessary to establish an informed opinion. After departing Capitol Hill in January 2013, Teerah focused on filling the void of political knowledge by blogging on the subject and continuing her Graduate studies. Understanding the value of education, Teerah’s proudest moments will be receiving her Master of Arts in Political Science this fall and becoming a dependable and unbiased legislative resource for American citizens.
