When most people hear the word "trend," a fashion runway or the financial-market forecast may come to mind. The kitchen, however, tries on as many trends as a supermodel: Trends in food afffect many aspects of your daily diet, from what's available in the supermarket to what your favorite chef dreams up in his or her kitchen.
