Foodie Find: Découpage Glass Trays

Written by Donna Marie Desfor, Culinary Consultant and Chef | Jan 22, 2012 7:07 PM

The traditional French technique of Découpage is the art of carefully cutting and gluing paper images to glass.  Ben Busko, has been creating and selling his découpage art since he was 8 years old.  Now 24, he owns and operates of Ben’s Garden, purveyor of coasters, stationary, paperweights, artwork, découpage trays and platters -all inspired by the charm in vintage papers, botanical prints and the antique curiosities he patiently unearths.  Busko sells to high end retailers, and stocks his two retail stores in New York with his wares.  Lucky for us, these magnificent creations are available through his online store, as well.

These trays are gorgeous, and in my opinion MUST be used, rather than simply put out for display (I use mine in my Tasting Room kitchen).  The French, Italian and Americana-vintage themes find perfect company in a kitchen, on a dining table or, even at a bar.  But don’t just indulge yourself.  This is the perfect gift for those hard-to-please foodies, gourmands, and wine enthusiasts.  Or, for a special host or hostess.  Of course, Valentine’s Day isn’t too far off…

Prices for Découpage Trays start at $54.
