Alright, the chocolate, roses and wine cliche is so last year. It's time to step it up a notch. Instead of the last-minute, let's run to the grocery store and pick up that pre-packaged, heart-shaped box of chocolate and bar-coded pre-arranged mess of red roses, try something new this year.

As with couples, singles should hear this as well. Put down the glass of wine and remote and stash away that binge-worthy pint of ice cream! It's time to think outside of that pretty, polished box of chocolates. There is some merit to Mr. Forrest Gump's metaphor.

Grab Valentine's Day by the hand and lead yourself, significant other or best friends and family to some of the hottest February 14th events in Central PA. Love is all you need. Well, love, and a bit of creativity. Below are 7 unique Valentine's Day outings to bring back the spark in your relationship.

1. Party Your Heart Out at Ladies Night

You heard Beyoncé... if they liked it they should have put a ring on it. Since they haven't, well ladies, this is your chance. For one happy, no-strings attached hour, Mulligan's Downtown Pub on North Second Street in Harrisburg, is hosting a "ladies drink free" night on February 14th. This means, someone else will pick up the tab. From 10-11pm, enjoy any drink at someone else's expense, and one lucky lady will go home with some bling from a special diamond giveaway.

2. Attend a Free Healthy Relationship Workshop

Rekindle your love and foster your relationship by attending a Healthy Relationship Workshop at the Hampton Inn in Clearfield. This is a great opportunity to learn how to keep happiness and harmony alive in your daily appreciation for one another. Like any successful construction project, a relationship needs a strong foundation. For attending this 5pm workshop, couples will not only receive a refreshed sense of partnership, but also enjoy free meals, hotel stay, workshop materials and a $50 Sheetz card. Why not get rewarded for being an awesome couple?

3. Valentine's Prime Rib Buffet

The buzzed about restaurant Raspberries, located in the center of Harrisburg, is inviting couples, friends and family to dine at their annual Valentine's Prime Rib Buffet. For $29 a person, you can indulge in various appetizers including salads, soups and peel-and-eat shrimp. For the main course, guests can dig into perfectly prepared prime rib and pork loin paired with seasonal vegetables and creamy soups. Experience the intimate atmosphere while savoring triple chocolate cake and chocolate truffles. It would be a sin not to partake in this exquisite menu.

4. Four Courses and Five Stars

Be extravagant and dine on a four-course meal in a five-star restaurant. The Golden Sheaf at the Hilton in Harrisburg, welcomes couples to experience exotic dishes that will make your mouth water. Take the high road and let your taste buds feast on duck, succulent oysters, cheese plates and the finest seafood and red meat. Give your heart's desire a night they will never forget. Top off the evening with homemade gelato and white chocolate mousse. For a reasonable $75 a person, this reservation should be booked in advance to secure a spot.

5. Get Artsy

Be creative with the love of your life and bond with a set of brushes and paint palettes. From 6-10pm on Valentine's Day, Color Me Mine in Harrisburg will open its doors for inspired couples. Sprinkle hues of pink, red and purple onto a blank canvas to add color and fun to your relationship. For $40, enjoy dinner and a studio session to express your love for one another through art. A prepayment is required, and Color Me Mine is not responsible if any paint starts to fly. Remember, you are to paint your project, not your partner!

6. Love is in the Air

Pair some of the Valentine's Day cliches with a tasteful evening to let your romance soar. Heritage Aviation in Selingsgrove has prepared a couples package to help sparks fly. Their promotion, Love is in the Air, partners with local business to create an intimate event for you and your significant other. For $129, take a special 30-minute flight across the sky only to come back down to earth and enjoy a rose and jar candle, paired with a bottle of wine from the Shade Mountain Winery. This experience will sweep you off your feet.

7. Enjoy the Mountains

Looking for fun and adventure that will leave you with breathtaking views and on a quest for putting together pieces of a heart? Search no further than Whitetail Resort. As a romantic pastime, skiing allows you to enjoy exercise to its fullest so you can cuddle up later with a hot chocolate and blanket. Hit the slopes this Valentine's Day to search for the pieces to Whitetail's Heart. Ten red puzzle pieces will be hidden all over the mountain. If you come across one along the trail, you can receive a gift. Some gifts include keepsakes, lift tickets or sweets and treats. Come early and be ready to hit the powder!

Whatever way you choose to display your love, remember the reason for the holiday. Enjoy each other's company and make the best of the day. Celebrate your friendship and relationship to the highest degree and cherish each moment, because it always seems to end too soon.
