The Secret to Staying in Touch With Friends

Written by Erik Larson, Community Blogger | Dec 20, 2017 4:33 PM

You are a very social person and like to stay in touch with those you know and love. You miss them terribly when you don't communicate with them, especially if they don't live close by. There are many ways and means to keep in touch, so you will always know where they are and what is going on in their lives. Some of these methods include:

Just Calling Them

There has been a huge breakdown in communications with the use of texting and email. Using these methods to communicate is not a bad thing; it is just not very personal. Without the warm tone of voice with its various inflections, messages can be misinterpreted, emotions cannot always come through, and the general messages can be bland and flat. Calling someone on a regular basis or even occasionally will help keep a relationship with a friend or relative going, even if they live halfway around the world.

Cell phone rates have dropped dramatically, and it is no longer a huge expense to place a call to someone in Europe or Africa. Call your friends and tell them how much you miss them and how good it is to hear their voices. Make plans to meet up with them the next time they are in your area or you are in theirs.

Remembering Holidays and Birthdays

One of the very best ways of keeping track of friends and relatives is to make a point to make contact during Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and on their respective birthdays. This will provide an endless flow of communication through email, text, or snail mail. Attractive cards can be sent through the internet and through regular mail services. Keep an ongoing list or calendar of those special birthdays every month. Have an even longer list of all your friends and relatives whom you need to send holiday cards to; include a special letter of all that had been going on in your life throughout the previous year. When they receive your special mail, they may reciprocate and do the same.

Using Social Media

Social media has been a huge breakthrough in locating and staying in touch with loved ones. Adopted children have located birth parents, large families are able to keep in contact with one another, and classmates who have not seen or spoken to each other in years are able to communicate effectively. The use of social media can help you stay in touch with your friends and rekindle old relationships that have been lost over the years. Social media is great because you can include pictures and videos of your family and your daily activities. Everyone will know exactly what is going on in your life, and you will have posts about theirs.

Utilizing Search Services

Sometimes one of those you communicate with slips through your fingers. You lose touch with them and don't have a clue as to how to locate them again. One of the best ways to do this is to utilize one of the online people search services. You will be so glad you took the time and made the effort to find your friends and loved ones. With a successful people search, you will be able to reinstate and continue your relationships with individuals whom you had thought you had lost forever.

In this day and age, it is almost impossible to really lose someone in your life. The above suggestions will keep lines of communication open at all times and enable you to keep your favorite individuals and family members close to you. Close ties can be made stronger and lost friendships revitalized, making your social life a truly huge and important part of your day-to-day activities.
