Whether you're looking to improve your home a little or a lot, upgrading the rooms in your house is a great place to start. In the guide below, we outlined our top recommended tips on improving the rooms in your home without breaking the bank.

Every Room

1. Adding new crown molding to the rooms in your home can give it the upgrade it needs. All you need is a medium-density fiberboard, or an MDF, which is both durable and inexpensive enough to use for the molding in your house.

2. A fresh new coat of paint can upgrade your home in the best way possible. Don't forget to plan out the colors first!

3. Replacing your shredded carpet or damaged flooring is a worthy upgrade, especially if you replace it with affordable vinyl, laminate, linoleum flooring.

4. Upgrading the lighting in the rooms of your home can give you the atmosphere you're looking for. Plus, using layering lighting can add the necessary decorative feel that your decor needs to thrive.

The Living Room

5. A common problem that homeowners make is ruining their floor plan by either buying too much furniture or furniture that is too large for the space they have. This can often leave their house feeling miskept and small. To avoid this, work on repositioning your furniture until you have a more open floor plan. We even suggest tossing out or donating furniture you find yourself barely using to add more space.

6. If you feel your windows are starting to get boring, it's time to dress them up! Use blinds and curtains to your advantage to add more personality to your windows, adding in design and color to compliment your decor.

The Bedroom

7. Adding lights to your bedroom can not only help you read better in bed but also add necessary light to your room, without direct sunlight. A good rule to follow is to purchase lighting that measures up to your shoulders when sitting in bed.

8. Most homeowners go crazy in the bedroom with decor and do not have a focused theme. To avoid this, choose one main piece of decorative art to highlight your room and serve as a primary focal point.

9. Headboards can honestly be made out of anything. If you lack one, try building one yourself. So, this means you can use old skateboards, magazines, maps, etc. to add a bit of decor to your bed that can visually benefit your bedroom.

The Kitchen

10. If your cabinets are either old or damaged, it's time to install new ones. Start tearing down the ones that are currently up and add new handles, knobs, and cabinets in its place. However, keep in mind that this can take a few days to complete.

11. Add in a new backsplash. This does not have to be an expensive or time-consuming project. Plus, backsplashes come in all sort of different varieties like tin, wood, chalkboard, or even subway glass tile backsplash.

The Dining Room

12. Add some drama to your dining room by putting up wallpaper. This trend is making its way back around again. Plus, this is a great way to add a bit of drama to your room. Still unsure? There are wallpaper varieties that are easy to remove, meaning you can try it out and decide from there.

13. Change up your chairs. If you have got a bold and funky style, consider getting mix and match seating for your dining room. Try adding a bench or an upholstered chair to break up your existing set.

The Bathroom

14. Accessorize your bathroom. Just because the room is small does not mean you need to treat it as such. Most people opt in for a spa-like feel for their bathroom. Consider putting your daily toiletries on display in simple jars or trays.

15. Update your sink fixtures. Most bathroom faucets could use an upgrade. A small change like this can make a huge difference.

16. Tackle your medicine cabinet. Sure you could simply organize it, but why not give it a total makeover? Use wallpaper to line the back of your cabinet. This can add a touch of color or a bit of whimsy, depending on your style.
