Backyard Improvements for Outdoor Entertaining

Sick of mowing your yard out in the heat each week and thinking about how much you hate all this wasted space? Well quit wasting it. Outdoor living is a great way to expand your living area and maximize your living space. The best way to truly enjoy it? Invite over your friends and family and enjoy it together.

Make It Look Good

Arguably the most important part of having a great space for outdoor entertainment is having an attractive one. Nobody wants to hang out in a wasteland. Rymar Grass has affordable and efficient options for landscape turf and artificial lawns, giving you a beautiful green lawn year-round. Artificial lawns give you a heat and frost-resistant, nonflammable lawn that's easy to install. Say goodbye to fertilizing, mowing, and expensive sprinkler systems too. Your lawn can look this great with incredibly low maintenance.

Enclose the Space

Better Homes and Gardens suggests adding enclosures to get a sense of privacy and truly create a backyard getaway. A privacy fence is a possible solution. Looking for a more intimate space? Need separate spaces in your yard? Consider adding a pergola or additional landscaping such as a wall of shrubs or large shade trees to truly define your space.

Set Up Seating

Furniture is a key component in outdoor living. Not everyone enjoys standing around all day. Outdoor furniture comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. You can choose dining sets or areas to lounge. Consider setting up separate areas as well to allow your guests to mingle. Don't forget, Mother Nature doesn't always play nice. She can wreak havoc on your beautiful outdoor additions. Southern Living has some helpful tips for caring for your new furniture.

Bring the Kitchen Outside

Every great party or get together needs great food. Don't miss out on all the fun while you're stuck in the kitchen cooking either. An outdoor kitchen isn't just practical, it's an attractive addition to your yard too. Check out some beautiful options on The DIY Network. If it doesn't work for your budget, consider adding a grill. It's a more affordable option but still a great excuse to hang out with your buddies in the backyard.

Add Some Drinks

A bar is a great addition to an outdoor space. You can keep a fridge stocked with beers and soda or set up an outdoor cooler before your guests arrive. Your bar can be a covered area with a television, permanent fixtures, and seating. Or, you can add a portable bar that can be put away at the end of the season, or even just at the end of the party. For a budget-friendly idea, consider buckets with ice and bottled drinks, a beverage cart stocked with cocktails, or large dispensers of lemonade and tea.

Make It Fun

You've got everyone good and full, now what? Make your outdoor space truly entertaining by adding some fun. There are plenty of options for outdoor games. Set up a space to play horseshoes. Tie up a net for an impromptu game of badminton or volleyball. You can even build your own games. Ladder ball and cornhole are fun sports for people of all ages. Both games can be made or bought online on sites like Amazon or eBay.

Start a Fire

The sun setting doesn't equal the end of outdoor entertaining. Hang a string of lights or lanterns to create a romantic setting. Want to keep the crowd? Start a fire. A fire pit is a great addition to any backyard. Follow step-by-step instructions from HGTV to build your own fire pit. You can also purchase a fire pit from any home improvement store. Don't forget skewers to roast marshmallows or grill up some hot dogs the old fashioned way.

Having a great outdoor space is a great way to maximize the space in your home and entertain friends and family. Make your home everyone's favorite meeting spot by setting up your own outdoor entertaining area today.
