7 Tips to Help Your Brand Win at Social Media

Providing your brand with a strong social media presence is important to its success. However, it's easy to hurt your own company online with a poor approach to gaining followers. Remember, understanding social media content isn't hard, all it requires are some basic steps to follow.

To help you realize what those are, below are our top seven recommended steps to help your brand boost its brand recognition on social media.

1. Provide Value to Your Audience

The reason you have an audience in the first place is because people were focused on what your brand offered. It's easy to reduce your followers by spamming them with advertisements and useless content that they don't want to read about. Ensure your content contains value. However, some ads such as sales and promotions are okay to do. Make sure that your content and advertisements are mixed for your followers to maintain interest in your brand.

2. Find the Best Social Media Platform and Influencers

Although using social media is one of the best strategies to getting an audience, there are some exceptions. For example, you can't use every social media platform forever. It's important that you find the platform where your followers follow you most, and which followers are your biggest influencers.

3. Build an Audience Before Starting Ad Campaigns

In order to do well on social media, you have to play with their algorithms to your advantage.

Once you are building a large audience on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, it's time to start social media ad campaigns to gain more leads and sales for your company. More often than not, using this method will help your campaign succeed than starting without a large enough audience.

4. Don't Overwhelm Your Audience

Luckily enough, there are dozens of automated tools that are available to help your social media marketing. However, it's important to know when to use them. For example, if you go around randomly following other brands, their ad campaigns may blow up your newsfeed.

So, when following or liking other content, make sure to keep your consistency without being annoying to your own followers. Maintain your valuable content to your audience so you don't lose them.

5. Jump On Trending Topics

By using hashtags to join in on trending topics, you can increase your reach and gain more, dedicated followers. To get your posts onto the trending pages, they will need to have enough engagement already on them. This is easiest done by those who have a large audience already. This is easier said than done, though there are plenty of tools that can help.

6. Use Analytics

An important step to helping your brand do well on social media is understanding analytics. Tools such as Twitter analytics and Facebook Page Insights can allow you to see what kind of posts do well and what posts don't. Make sure that you check on your analytics each day and see how your content campaigns are doing. The last thing you should be focusing on is posting random content that will ruin your follower count and reputation online.

7. Listen to Complaints and Address Them

If anything, social media has become a direct customer assistance line that makes it easy for consumers to ask a company questions. Tweeting or posting on a company's profile takes seconds, rather than waiting 20 plus minutes on a phone for an outsourced customer service agent. This is also why it's important to learn how to respond and increase your response time. For example, if someone posts a question on your company's page, you should be contacting him or asking them to contact your company to resolve the problem as soon as possible. The worst thing you can do is ignore the post, which can cause a tweet storm of hate towards your brand.
