A multimedia library and e-learning environment

WITF is once again joining with Colonial Williamsburg to provide a series of electronic field trips. These monthly programs are distributed live to PBS stations, allowing students to participate in an interactive historical discussion. The 2014-2015 series begins on Oct. 9 with “The Global Economy.” This episode will examine international trade routes of the 18th Century. All the programs in the series — which continues through May 2015 — are live so that classrooms can chat and interact through message boards, email and Twitter. They occur at 1 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month.

Bring the past alive in your classroom

Attention Teachers! Are you interested in bringing the Colonial Williamsburg Electronic Fieldtrip series to your classroom? The broadcast program is free. However, to allow your students to interact with the program live, and to enable downloads of related curriculum materials you need to join History Education Resources Online. Information about involving your classroom and school district in HERO are available here.
