Arthur Episode: The Short Quick Summer

Summer vacation is over? It just started! What about all those great, fun things Arthur intended to do—like have adventures and explore the unfathomable mysteries of space? As Arthur learns, you don’t have to go far from home to have a great summer.

Summer Plans

Materials: art supplies, hole punch, paper, ribbon or string

Directions: 1. Ask children what they like best about summer and what some of their favorite summer activities have been. Record responses on paper.

2. Together create a list of things to try this summer. The only rules are that the activities require no long distance traveling and very little money. Ideas: learn sign language, make a bird feeder, invent a board game)

3. Have children describe and illustrate their ideas to create pages for a family “summer fun” book.

4. Bind the pages of the book by punching holes along the left sides and tying them together with ribbon or string. Refer to the book often during the summer months.
