In 1998 pianist Jeremy Denk won both the Young Concert Artists International Auditions and received a prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant. His career has flourished with engagements with leading orchestras and presenters nationwide. He often performs with violinist Joshua Bell. On February 14, he’ll be appearing in recital at the Majestic Theatre in Gettysburg as part of the Sunderman Conservatory's Chamber Music Concert Series. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and features Bach’s Goldberg Variations and the Etudes of Hungarian born composer Gyorgy Ligeti . It’s the same program he’ll be performing two days later in Carnegie Hall. Denk is the author of the weblog Think Denk, which was praised by the New Yorker music critic Alex Ross: "Besides being a brilliant musician, Denk is simply one of the most interesting writers I know." We caught up with the busy Denk by phone to chat a bit about the music on the concert. You can hear our interview below.
