In a joint production, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra will present a new ballet version of Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens. Performances will be 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23.
Laszlo Berdo, CPYB senior faculty member and former Boston Ballet principle dancer, is directing and choreographing the production. Most recently he staged the company’s 2011 production of Swan Lake. Members of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra will perform under the direction of assistant conductor Tara Simoncic. She is also the new Music Director of the HSO Youth Symphony. The story for the ballet was written for this production by witf’s Cary Burkett, who will also serve as narrator for the performances.
