Composer Steven Bryant in Residency at Gettysburg College

Written by  Cary Burkett, witf Host and Producer

Award winning American composer Steven Bryant will be in residency at Gettysburg College from November 30-December 2. He will be lecturing in a number of master classes and joining the Sunderman Conservatory Wind Symphony in a concert of his music on December 2 at 8 pm at the Majestic Theatre in Gettysburg.

Steven Bryant’s music has been performed by numerous ensembles across North America, Europe and East Asia. He is a three-time winner of the National Band Association’s William D. Revelli Composition Award.  Many of his works use electronics and computers blended with traditional instrumentation. His seminal work for large ensemble and electronics, Ecstatic Waters, has become the most performed work of its kind in the world.  Steven Bryant will be performing the electronic/computer parts of the work with the Sunderman Conservatory Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Russell McCutcheon in the December 2 concert at the Majestic. He will also be giving a pre-concert lecture before the event starting at 7 pm.
