To launch its 30th anniversary season, The Susquehanna Chorale will bring renowned choral composers Dr. Robert Page and Alice Parker as guest conductors in a concert May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Forum in Harrisburg. The concert is titled, Legends Among Us. There will also be an opportunity to observe an Open Rehearsal with both conductors working with the Susquehanna Chorale and Susquehanna Youth Chorale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Forum. Information and registration forms are available at the Susquehanna Chorale website.
Dr. Page is a founding member of Chorus America and has held positions as Professor of Music and Director of Choral Studies at Carnegie Mellon University and Music Director of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh. Alice Parker is widely known for her arrangements of folksongs and hymns with Robert Shaw. Her professional choir, Melodious Accord, promotes choral music through concerts and workshops throughout the country.
Both will lead the Susquehanna Chorale and the Susquehanna Youth Chorale in their own arrangements and in an original piece by Dr. Page. We had the opportunity to chat with both of these renowned musicians. You can hear our conversation with them below.
