In 1955, with help from family and friends, Marcia Dale Weary began converting an old barn on Carlisle, PA into a dance studio to teach ballet. Today that studio has blossomed into the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, recognized for its excellence and for the number of alumni who have gone on to take major positions with premiere ballet companies around the world. We talked with Marcia Dale Weary and others about the history of the school, and about the CPYB’s latest production. They will present Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake at Whitaker Center in Harrisburg for the first time on April 9 and 10. You can listen to our feature below.
