Crime prevention website gets upgrade

Written by  Megan Lello and Radio Pennsylvania

(Harrisburg) -- A website designed to help catch criminals in Pennsylvania is getting an upgrade. Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers, a volunteer crime prevention organization, has teamed up with State Police and another advocacy group, Crime Watch Pennsylvania, to revamp its website. Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers coordinator Kira Lemmons says the goal is to make the site easier for users to navigate. "They will have more up-to-date information. They will be able to share the information through Facebook, through Twitter, and e-mail," she says. "They will see news releases and blogs. They can actually sign up to become a member to be alerted if there are cases in their area." Lemmons says the group is currently developing cell phone apps as well.
