The young indie rock band from Litiz, PA, The Districts, is getting a lot of good buzz. People are starting to take notice.  Members of The Districts only graduated high school a few months ago, but already the band has signed on with the Mississippi-based label Fat Possum and has just released their self-titled EPRolling Stone called them a “promising young band”, and described their music as straddling a line “between imaginative indie rock and brisk blues-inflected folk.”

The group got a lot of attention for their Hotbox Session video of their song, Funeral Beds. This one-take, live performance video topped the news and entertainment website Reddit, and got more than 300,000 views.  Check it out below.  The Districts are currently on a tour supporting White Denim.

The Districts are made up of Rob Grote, guitar & vocals, Mark Larson, guitar & violin, Connor Jacobus, bass, and Braden Lawrence, percussion.  They performed at Lancaster’s Tellus 360 in November, which is where their Center Stage performance comes from.  Tune in for this performance by an up- and-coming young band that Rolling Stone says is ready to go national. We’ll be talking with lead singer Rob Grote about the band’s success.

We’ll also put the Center Stage Spotlight on the venue Tellus 360, which is making a big impact in Lancaster in the short amount of time it’s been open. The Districts concert was not only recorded by the recording studio, The Sugartank, but was mixed by them as well. We’ll talk with Mike McMonagle and Mike Newman about the exciting things happening there. You can hear our feature with them below.
