Saturday, June 1 at 8 p.m. on witf’s Center Stage

A Canadian folk music group from Quebec, Le Vent du Nord preforms traditional Québécois music, along with their own original pieces in the same style.

The quartet consists of Nicolas Boulerice who plays the unusual hurdy-gurdy instrument, Simon Beaudry the lead singer and guitarist, Olivier Demers who plays the fiddle and Réjean Brunet who plays accordion. All four members of the group are steeped in the traditional folk music of Quebec.  The band has been awarded two Junos (Canada’s Grammys), a Canadian Folk Music Award, and 'Artist of the Year'  at the North American Folk Alliance Annual Gala.

Their latest album in called Tromper le temps or “Fooling Time”. Their live performance on Center Stage comes from a Susquehanna Folk Music Society concert.

Also on the program, another humorous tale from bestselling author Philip Gulley, recorded at the 2012 Litiz Storytelling Festival.
