Larissa Chace Smith and Brechyn Chace are sisters who grew up in Mercersburg, where they still make their home. They heard a lot of different styles of music growing up. Their grandfather played in Les Brown’s Big Band and sang with Doris Day. Their father had his own local jazz and blues band, the Blue Chair.

After some time spent in Austin soaking up the Texas county music scene, the sisters decided to form their own Americana Country band, The Hello Strangers. Their career got a jump start when they won a contest which brought them the opportunity to have their first album funded and produced by Grammy-winning record producer Steve Ivey at his Nashville recording studio.

The self-titled album is just out, with a release party on Friday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Knob Hill Winery in Clear Spring Maryland.  The CD features thirteen songs, eleven of which are originals.
