Lancaster's 24 Hour Plays

Written by Cary Burkett, Arts & Culture Desk and WITF Host | Oct 24, 2013 12:31 PM

Six writers, six directors, 24 actors , and a production team come together to write, rehearse and produce six plays over the course of 24 hours in an event known as Lancaster’s 24 Hour Plays.

This will be the 3rd annual 24 Hour Plays event in Lancaster produced by Wood Stove House. Steve Carlson is the producer. This year the plays will be performed for the public at the end of the 24 hour creation process on Saturday, November 9 at 7pm at Tellus360, 24 East King St., Lancaster, PA.

It’s been called  extreme theatre… writing, producing, rehearsing and  performing six plays all in one 24 hour period. The event is modeled after a similar event which began in New York City in 1995.

Below you can hear our interview with Steve Carlson and a look at how the whole 24 hour creative process takes place. Thanks to co-producer Jason Mundok of Wood Stove House for providing background audio from last year’s event from his podcast, Around the Woodstove.
