Prima Theatre in Lancaster is presenting its most ambitious production to date, the rock/pop musical Aida by Elton John and Tim Rice. For the show, a cast of 20 singers, actors and dancers will be augmented by a large chorale from the Lancaster Bible College.

Dan Deal, whose experience includes directing shows at Lancaster’s Sight and Sound Theatre, will be directing the production. Performances will be in Steinman Hall at the Ware Center in Lancaster, on September 8 and 15. There will be a matinee show at 2 and an evening show at 7 on both days.

The story is based on the opera Aida by Guiseppe Verdi, written in 1871, and tells the tale of a forbidden love between an Egyptian general and an enslaved Nubian princess.
