Flamenco is a bit like a history lesson; the history of emotions of those who suffered through persecution and strife. The combination of music, dance and clapping manifest the anger and sadness into an art form that has remained vibrant and evocotive even today. One group that is helping sustain its presence is Spain's Noche Flamenca which is directed by Martín Santangelo.

"It's really a rebel cry," says Martín, "like any other cultural phenomenon that exists in any country, usually by the ends up being so powerful that the country is identified by that music."

Noche Flamenca makes its way to the Rose Lerhman Arts Center at HACC's campus on Wednesday, January 30th.
