Murder Mystery Cruises on "Pride of the Susquehanna" Riverboat

Written by Cary Burkett, Arts & Culture Desk and WITF Host | Sep 14, 2012 7:03 AM

murdermystery.jpgAspiring sleuths can put their skills to the test trying to solve a murder mystery while enjoying a meal and a cruise down the river on the riverboat, The Pride of the Susquehanna.  Otter Productions, named after its founder Herb Otter, dramatize murder mysteries in which the audience has a chance to participate and solve the mystery.

The actors follow a loose scenario in which they present various clues, but all the dialogue is improvised, a structure designed to allow audience members to join in to whatever extent they choose.  The troupe has a large number of such stories in their repertoire. Brad Christman, who performs with the company, has written over 30 such scripts.

Upcoming dates for the cruises can be found on the website of the Harrisburg Area Riverboat Society. Below you can hear our feature on the Murder Mystery Cruises.

Wow… That actually sounds like a whole new level of mystery solving TV series. I have always thought about the possibilities of having a show which has similar interactive sessions, where we audience can involve in the case and try to solve the case.
