Center Stage Presents Hoots & Hellmouth

Written by Cary Burkett, Arts & Culture Desk and witf Host | Jul 30, 2012 9:28 PM

On August 4, witf’s Center Stage presents a concert featuring the rock/roots band Hoots and Hellmouth  recorded live in Lancaster as presented by Mosaic Productions.  Singer/songwriter Sean Hoots brings his own personal blend of influences to create music steeped in folk, soul, blues and rock.  To hear some of the music, check out some tracks from the band’s third album, Salt, recently released.  You can hear our interview with Sean Hoots below.

Lancaster-based Mosaic sees itself as much more than a group of presenters. Mosaic describes itself as “a collaborative network of innovators, pioneers, entrepreneurs, artists and activists that exists to empower and unleash human potential and creativity into the city of Lancaster and the world.”  Keith Wilson produced the Hoots & Hellmouth concert for Mosaic. Nick Francis is Executive Producer for the organization.  You can hear out interview with them below as well, and check out the Mosaic website for more.

The Center Stage concert also includes some sets from a 1991 Music at Gretna Concert with jazz bebop trumpeter Ira Sullivan. Sullivan is now 81 years old, but still performing and releasing records. His newest album is called A Family Affair.  We chatted with him about the early days of his jazz career and that interview is also posted below.

In addition, the program will include a Center Stage Spotlight on singer/songwriter Isaac Gill and his music.

Tune in Saturday night, August 4 at 8 pm for Center Stage on witf, 89.5, right after A Prairie Home Companion. And let us know what you think of the concert.  Drop us a line at Arts@witf.org.
