Award-winning journalist and aspiring screenwriter Brad Christman of Harrisburg has been named a 1st-place winner in the Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition in Hollywood. Christman picked up the win in the 1-Hour TV category with his pilot script entitled “Do-Overs.”
From nearly a thousand entries, Fresh Voices selected 1st-place winners in each of nine categories and genres. Those nine finalists now compete for the overall Grand Prize, to be announced in late March.
Christman’s one-hour original pilot script follows the adventures of Dr. Josh Chamberlain, a government researcher who unlocks the secrets of time travel while researching the human brain. When sinister government agencies prepare to seize the breakthrough for their own nefarious purposes, Chamberlain steals the project with the intention of using it to help worthy people repair their broken lives.
“I’m overwhelmed to have achieved this high honor,” Christman said. “Hopefully, with more hard work and just a little luck, we’ll all see Do-Overs on the small screen someday soon. This is the story of a hero who helps good people fix bad mistakes. I think it will resonate with everyone who experiences it.”
Christman has written a follow-up second episode and has started the first draft of a third Do-Overs script. He is currently seeking representation for the project, which also uses central Pennsylvania as its main backdrop and setting.
A native of Chambersburg, PA, Brad Christman is currently the News Director for witf’s Radio Pennsylvania, which provides news and sports programming to more than 60 radio stations across Pennsylvania. He’s been with the network and witf since 1994. Since 1998, Brad has also written and performed with Maryland-based Otter Productions, an improvisational comedy troupe that will be performing starting this year on Harrisburg’s Pride of the Susquehanna murder mystery riverboat cruises.
